Hello Activity
- In this activity, you will prepare
a short e-mail to send to colleagues introducing yourself
to everyone else but the most important part of this
activity appears at the end when you answer messages
from others.
Please send mail to
your group.
In this mail you should tell the other educators in
your group:
- who you are
- which school you are from
- which province you are from
You may possibly include
other information that you consider important such
as:
- what subjects you teach
- whether you have children
- what your interests are
- what you hope to gain from the
course
- what access you have to computers
(one computer in the staffroom, a computer lab with
20 machines, computers in your classroom)
- or any other interesting piece
of information about yourself or your school. (You
may want to send photographs of yourself, your school
and the surrounding area to your group)
When you have sent your mail you
will receive many messages coming back to you. Please
take a moment to familiarise yourself with some general
'netiquette' rules governing use of e-mail.
- While you are waiting for these
messages to arrive, please read the following article
on online
learning communities.
- This is now the most important
part of this activity - please answer the mail you
receive.
Please note that 60
minutes is allocated to spend replying to the members
of your group. Put into practice some of the things
you have read about in the article on online
learning communities.
We hope that you will
enjoy the module. Please remember that:
- the
tutor is your partner
- your
group is your learning community,
- please
interact with them by writing to them regularly and
- write
to them whenever you are directed to do so throughout
the activities.
You may proceed to the first activity
in your module when you are satisfied that you have
"met" most of your group.
